Samhain (Halloween) Outlander Special Tours

Since a lot of Outlander is centred around Scottish folklore, superstition, witchcraft, ghosts and ghouls…..(in fact, in the TV series, the show starts on the eve of Samhain aka Halloween.) We have decided to put on 3 special day tours.

Outlander Tours Off Season

Regretfully, we have been having many problems with the Viator Platform. It has left many of our potential guests hanging after tours were cancelled among other issues and until the problem is resolved, we will not be selling on their website. Their tech teams are working to resolve the issue.

With this in mind and due to the closures of many of the Outlander filming locations over the off season, we will not be conducting any group tours until next Spring (other than the tours already confirmed) - dates to be announced. This includes the day tours, 3 day tours and 7 day tours.

We are however offering private Outlander Tours at a severely reduced rate. Please contact us for further information.

Attractions disrupted:

  • Midhope Castle aka Lallybroch will be closed quite a bit over the winter months and as a result, we cannot guarantee a visit here. It is best to keep a eye out on the following website for closures:
  • Blackness Castle will be closed on Thursdays and Fridays from 1st of October 2016.
  • All of the Historic Scotland attractions will operate Winter opening hours, opening at 10am and last admission by 3.30pm.

Outlander Effect

As most of my social media friends (and Outlander Tour guests) will know very well by now, is that I am a huge Outlander fan. I love the books (I am nearly finished book 3), the TV series and of course the wonderful actors. However it was something that I discovered quite late in my “tour” career thanks to the very little information in Scotland about it.

Stumbling on Outlander Filming

Right so, it has taken me nearly a week to post this but here we go...last week not only did I have the privilege of meeting Diana Gabaldon, the author of the Outlander series at Stirling Castle, but during our Outlander tours last week, we stumbled upon filming for series 2. Phew!

Blackness is one of our favourite locations in Scotland. It is a 15th-century fortress, near the village of Blackness, Scotland, on the shore of the Firth of Forth. It now forms part of our Outlander Filming locations tour as it was used in Outlander as Fort William.

Outlander Tartan had its own tartan made

Did you know Outlander had its own tartan designed and made? Here is a quick video on how it was made.

I was so lucky to have had the opportunity to attend the "Evening with Diana Galbadon and Neil Oliver" event at Stirling Castle on Monday night (23rd November 2015) and I managed to get a few snap shots and had my book signed by the lovely Diana herself.  :-)

The Skye Boat Song - At least my rendition of it

Speed, bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing,
Onward! the sailors cry;
Carry the lad that's born to be King
Over the sea to Skye.
