7 Day Sea and Land tour - Scottish Whisky, castles, Sea Lochs and ancient kingdoms

Scottish Whisky, castles, Sea Lochs and ancient kingdoms Tour

7 day sailing tour, in a private sailing yacht with skipper and hostess

5 Days on a yacht on the West Coast of Scotland visiting the Island on the West Coast of Scotland as well as Whisky Distilleries and a canal.

2 Days by road visiting amazing places such as Glencoe, Loch Lomond, The Drovers Inn, Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Vaults and more.

Day 1

Pickup from airport or accommodation with complimentary transfer to Largs Marina where the yacht is berthed.
In the afternoon we depart from Largs yacht haven (35 minutes transfer from Glasgow airport) and sail to Rothesay on the nearby island of Bute. Dinner ashore in a local restaurant.

Day 2
Visit historic Rothesay castle or Mount Stuart House, then sail through the stunningly beautiful Kyles of Bute to Loch Ranza, landing there to visit the famous Arran Distillery. Take a tour of the distillery, then sail north to the iconic Scottish west coast fishing village of Tarbert, dining ashore in one of Scotland’s finest seafood restaurants, Starfish.

Day 3
Sail up loch Fyne to Ardrishaig and the start of the Crinan Canal. Described as Britain’s most beautiful shortcut, built over 200 years ago. We navigate its locks as far as the pretty village of Cairnbaan, mooring there for the night and dining ashore at the Cairnbaan Hotel – again, well known for its local seafood.

Day 4
Your yacht completes its transit of the Crinan Canal, while our guests spend a few hours ashore visiting Dunadd hill fort, considered the foundation stone of the Kingdom of the Scots. Place your foot in the footprint carved into the rock, an ancient symbol of the union of the king with his land. Re-board the yacht at Crinan, then lock out of the Canal. Depending on the weather and tides, your skipper will then either
- sail out with you to visit the famous Corryvreckan whirlpool – the 3rd largest in the world - returning to Crinan overnight to dine in the rightly-famous Crinan Hotel; or
- sail south to Jura, mooring in Craighouse bay and guiding you ashore to visit the Isle of Jura distillery, later enjoying a casual meal in the Jura Hotel.

Day 5
Set sail north through more stunning Hebridean scenery to the west highland capital of Oban, mooring overnight at the Oban marina. Dine ashore at one of Oban’s many fine restaurants, then a final night aboard the yacht before being collected in the morning by Slainte Scotland Tours.

Day 6
Morning pickup by Slainte Scotland for a tour.
First stop is Oban Distillery for a tour and coffee. The tour then sets off to Glencoe, one of the most scenic routes in Scotland. We make our way to the Drovers Inn (pub of the year 1705) for lunch before we hug the western shores of Loch Lomond back to your accommodation.

Day 7
Pickup from accommodation and depart for Edinburgh. Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Vaults, Royal Mile and the Royal Yacht Britannia. Lunch at Deacon Brodies. Dropoff at accommodation or airport as required.

Important Notes on the Tour, please read:
This tour involves yachts and open water. By its very nature this tour has higher risk factor and is more demanding than most land based tours. Anyone joining us on this tour accepts the higher risks, the needs to be fairly mobile and fit and understand that you will be sleeping most nights in a yacht. The accommodation in the yacht is similar to that of a medium-sized caravan.
Guests are asked to bear in mind that as storage space is limited on a sailing yacht, they should limit the amount of luggage they each bring aboard, to one soft kitbag type holdall per person. Slainte Scotland will if need be retain other items of luggage for you while you are on board the yacht, and return those to you at the end of the sailing tour.

For your safety and enjoyment we also need to add the following conditions:
- On the yacht the skipper has the final say
- The tour may have to change at any time due to weather and sea circumstances
- Behaviour at sea and on boarding the yacht will be evaluated by the skipper continuously. The skipper has the discretion to not allow unacceptable or dangerous behaviour and may stop the tour if he fears for the safety of the guests, crew or any bystanders.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR SKIPPERED CHARTERS AND YACHT TOURS
1. A non-refundable deposit of 20% is payable to Slainte Scotland (Clyde Coast Tourism Ltd) on booking the tour. The booking is not confirmed until the booking deposit has been paid.

2. The balance of the tour fee must be paid to Slainte Scotland (Clyde Coast Tourism Ltd) 28 days before the tour is due to commence. If the tour is booked within one calendar month of the start of the tour period, the full amount of the tour fee is due with the booking. To cancel, written notice must be received at least 60 days before the tour otherwise the full balance of the fee remains payable.

3. No age limit is rigidly imposed, however guests should satisfy themselves that they and those they intend to sail on the yacht during their tour (the "charter party") are all reasonably fit and likely to be able to cope with the physical and mental demands of being on a sailing yacht at sea (tight and steep stairs, smaller bunks, low doorways, floors slippery when wet).

4. The yachts are provided with full safety gear as specified by the MCA, including liferafts, flares, harness lines and adult-sized lifejackets. Should however the charter party include children for whom adult-sized lifejackets would be too large, then it will be the guests' responsibility to ensure that those children are each provided with - and required to wear at all times when on the yacht - suitably sized lifejackets or buoyancy aids. Waterproof sailing clothing is not provided with the yacht but may be hired separately.

5. The guests are deemed to understand and accept that sailing can be dangerous and has certain inherent risks, including the risk of injury or death.

6. The yachts are fully insured against accidents and carry third party liability insurance, but responsibility is not accepted for any personal accidents, damage or losses that are due to the negligence of members of the charter party. Any unnecessary damage and/or losses attributed by the skipper to carelessness on the part of members of the charter party will be charged at replacement price; and if not paid by them then recovered from the guests, who are in any event strongly recommended to arrange appropriate insurance cover for cancellation, injury and personal liability. For some skippered charters a refundable security deposit may also be payable by the guests; deductions may be made from this deposit, to allow full or partial recovery of any such damage and/or losses.

7. Damage to a charter party member’s personal property during the charter will not be the responsibility of Slainte Scotland (Clyde Coast Tourism Ltd), or the yacht owner, or their servants or agents. Nor will Slainte Scotland (Clyde Coast Tourism Ltd), the yacht owner or their servants or agents be liable for any other loss, injury or damage which may arise as a result of the normally accepted risks of sailing in a small yacht.

8. The tour charter contract will be subject to the Law of Scotland.
