Our new favouriste whisky, basically a peated (smokey) single malt from the Tobermory Distillery. This pic was taken at the Deanston Distillery where they graciously let me have a wee tasty.

This whisky is weird in that the smokeyness only comes in to taste later on while drinking. It is as if the non peated and peated taste is somehow seperated. The smokeyness is also very raw. This is a must taste for anyone who likes peated single malts.

I have been told that one part of the year Tobermory makes their flagship Tobermory Single malt which is non- or lightly peated and in the other part of the year they make the peated Ledaig.

“Ledaig 10

This extraordinary and distinguished hand-crafted single malt is the distillery’s signature smoky expression.

For ten full years, oak wood casks lie in rest in ancient vaults.

Within them, the aromatic Lochan waters commune with the peated malted barley to create a deep golden treasure that is both floral and smoky.

Ledaig is one of our exquisite peated single malts, an integral part of the Tobermory family, and sits beautifully alongside our signature malts.” – Tobermory Distillery Official Website
