Don’t let this put you off visiting Scotland though as you are guaranteed to miss the crowds and with clever planning, you can still have a wonderful time.
On our Outlander tour yesterday, we can confirm that we had not long missed the filming (it could have only been a couple of days at the most.) There was a lot of mud around but the with the knowledge that we could quite literally be standing in the footsteps of the cast and crew, was an amazing feeling. We even used the extra hay they obviously used for the set for some fun pictures.
